StarStyle Music Video Update – Jeremiah video iPod contest, Billboard, Music Video Wire and CMJ.com

I thought I’d take a moment to update you on the current happenings over at StarStyle.com. It’s been an extremely exciting past few weeks. I’m back in the Big Apple and rested up from a business trip to LA and subsequent 4-day mini vacation to San Francisco. I didn’t know working at StarStyle would be like living the StarStyle, but I could be wrong…

While in LA, we bumped into American Idol judge, Randy Jackson at super hot LA power lunch spot, Kate Mantellini (9101 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills). Down to earth and very friendly, Randy kindly introduced us to legendary music manager, Benny Medina, whose client roster includes Mariah Carey, Brandy and Tyra Banks. Benny’s real life story inspired the making of “Fresh Prince of Bel Air.”

It was great to see long time friend and digital music industry colleague, Debbie Roldan (formerly Columbia Records Director of New Media), firmly entrenched in her new position (no pun intended) at LA powerhouse management company, The Firm. We are looking forward to the possibiity of working with Debbie on behalf of artists represented by the management company, which just launched its own label and distribution pact with EMI.

We also stopped by for chats with our friend’s at Interscope, Nettwerk and Hollywood Records to discuss upcoming music videos and related products that may soon appear in the StarStyle music video experience (see the player in action at http://music.starstyle.com).

Thanks to Q-Beck, a friend of StarStyle over at Paramount Studios, my girlfriend Missy and I took a private tour of the legendary lot where we ran into Brandy taking a break from judging America’s Got Talent and ET co-host, Kevin Frazier, reading his lines on the set of Entertainment Tonight.

On a side note, members of the band Pearl Jam had rooms at the Hotel Palomar, which was where we were staying in San Francisco. The band was in town for a stop on the California leg of their recent tour.

A Kimpton Hotel property,
it’s a hot place to stay and the location at 4th and Market is tough to beat. We’ve stayed at Kimpton’s Marlowe (Boston) and Palomar (San Francisco). Their hotels are fast becoming one of our fav places stay. They’re also dog friendly and are known to put out welcome bones for your pet upon arrival.

My New York-born and raised girlfriend got a special treat when she met famous New York Yankee, “Sweet” Lou Pinella at Izzy’s Steak House in the Marina district (Lombard and Steiner). A Boston fan, I enjoyed meeting Lou, but the steak at Izzy’s was definitely a treat for me!

And finally, last Thursday, I was walking along 5th Ave at 15th Street and bumped into Michael Imperioli (Christoper from The Soprano’s). Never met the guy, but I knew it was a good opportunity to slip him a StarStyle business card. Maybe one of these days we’ll feature his silk suits in our TV section!
