According to the web analytics service, Compete.com, our partner, 8tracks.com, a fine purveyor of “handcrafted Internet radio,” experienced explosive growth since late August. Compete, which tracks the habits of over 2 Million web surfers, reports an over 35% increase from August 20th to September 20th to 131,000 daily unique visitors.

Why all the buzz? First and foremost, 8tracks–a legal playlist creation service–is pretty much the Last of the Mohicans. The service’s careful adherence to the rusty (did I say rusty? I meant “trusty”) old DMCA has helped it to thrive while others hit the proverbial brick wall. Chalk it up to experience, perseverance, and just a damn good idea; you’ve got the makings of a company that will be around for years to come.

As of this post date, there are over 133,816 mixes to listen to. Take it for a spin. We think you’ll love it.

(Disclosure: Netmix founder, Tony Zeoli, is on the 8tracks Advisory Board.)
