Before anyone else was streaming DJ sets, there was Tony Zeoli and Netmix. His talent, enthusiasm and vision were not just influential, but set the standard by which other Web sites at the time could only hope to reach. He was also incredibly generous and supportive of others, like myself, who were just getting started in the realm of online music. I’ll never forget the guidance and encouragement that he gave me.

For more than a decade Tony has shared his knowledge on a range of digital music and Internet-related issues. Zeoli previously lead and moderated the interactive music panel for 5 consecutive years at the Winter Music Conference from 1995-2000 and participated in panels at the Billboard Dance Music Summit and Amsterdam Dance Event, NYU’s MBA Music & Entertainment Forum, as well as iHollywood Forum’s Music 2.0.

In January 1996, Mr. Zeoli founded  Netmix Media and Netmix.com, the first website to kick off a pioneering online DJ culture which allowed top electronic/dance DJs like Armand Van Helden, Paul Oakenfold and Lil’ Louie Vega to broadcast their mixes globally, something that had never been done before. Tony’s forward thinking enabled him to convince companies like Sony Music and Arista Records to market their music and dance artists online. Tony continues to program and produce podcasts for Netmix.

While Vice President of Music Services at Entertainment Media Works from 2005 to 2007, Mr. Zeoli orchestrated the creation of the company’s music division and led development of the organization’s online music video platform for its consumer portal StarStyle.comâ„¢. During his tenure at EMW, Tony negotiated partnership agreements with major and independent recording labels and artists, and developed the overall music content strategy for StarStyle, including entertainment news features, online music video programming, blogging and podcasting. He also closed agreements with Universal Music Group, MTV and Univision.

Previously, Zeoli consulted to the Associated Press, overseeing the development of the AP’s blog platform for its youth culture news portal, ASAP, which was distributed to hundreds of news web sites worldwide.

In his prior role as senior producer at New York’s MetroTV, he spearheaded the development of the New York Music Rundown, the country’s first VOD music news program available through Cablevision’s Metro Plus, in which Zeoli received a Communicator Award, the cable industry’s highest honor.

Tony’s tenacity, marketing savvy and promotional muscle was shaped during a two-year stint as one of the original team members of the X-Mix DJ remix service back in the late 80s. As Director of Worldwide Sales & Distribution and A&R Coordinator, he began recruiting DJs for remixes, whether at the Winter Music Conference, New Music Seminar or just working late nights in his office calling distributors in Asia or DJs in London. X-Mix, holds an important niche in dance culture history and Tony Zeoli was one of the folks that helped fuel its growth.

In addition to many of Tony’s accomplishments, Tony is also known for following in the footsteps of his mentors, such as legendary DJs and record industry executives. After his time with Mega-Mixx, Tony began utilizing his talent on the turntables, mixing records in major Boston nightclubs like Roxy, Avalon and Venus DeMilo which provided him further insight and hands on experience into the world of Dance Music culture.

Mr. Zeoli is more than a mere leader in the space;  his commitment to the “innovation and advancement of dance music online” (Billboard Magazine), continues to influence global youth culture and electronic music of today.
