Leona Lewis has the X-Factor for America

This week, Billboard Magazine reports J/RCA is set to release London’s X-Factor winner, Leona Lewis’ debut album, “Spirit,” next Spring in the U.S.

Lewis wowed the shows’ UK audience with her tear-jerking rendition of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” The same son that made Sam Harris a Broadway star after he won the first Star Search, an earlier U.S. iteration of current shows like American Idol. After Harris won with it, the song made was literally banned from the show by the producers, who were afraid the audience would tune out after hearing it so many times.

I found this YouTube recording of Lewis’ version. Enjoy!
