Mapping start-up Socialight opens API

Socialight, a mobile mapping service, has opened up its API for developers to create programs for the platform with the hope the iPhone and Google’s mobile operating system will force carriers to open their networks. As carriers open their networks to more 3rd party applications, Socialight would benefit with increased usage and less restriction on how users can access the service. The Socialight web site and mobile applications are useful for clubbers and nightlife promoters who like to follow each other while bookmarking venues, events, hot restaurants and other interesting places they like to visit. A while back, Google invested in New York start up, Dodgeball, who have a similar location based mobile network.
