Jam & Spoon's Mark Spoon Passes On

Mark SpoonThe world of dance music has tragically lost one of its pioneering concept producers, Mark Spoon, of the Berlin based trance duo, Jam & Spoon, who succumbed to a heart-attack at age 39.

Born Markus Löffel, Spoon, along with partner Jam El Mar (Rolf Ellmer) were known for their anthemic trance productions. Most notably Right In The Night, Stella, Be Angeled and Find Me. In the late 90’s, Jam & Spoon signed a recording deal in the U.S. with Epic Records to release their hit album, Tripomatic Fairytale stateside. [Get the MP3 from MP3.com]

Spoon’s career as a DJ started out performing with the likes of Turbo B., the lead vocalist from the popular dance group, Snap. He went on to work for Michael Münzig and Luca Anzilotti (of Snap) as A&R Manager at their now defunct record label, Logic Records. According to the BBC web site, Spoon is credited with discovering the Swiss pop star, Dr. Alban.

A Mark Spoon Condolences page has been set up as a memorial to this influential dance music producer. The page is located at http://www.mark-spoon.com.
