Ultra Music Festival 2008

The Ultra Music Festival (UMF) — the world’s leading two-day electronic and alternative music experience set for Friday March 27 and Saturday March 28, 2009 during the Winter Music Conference in Miami–has announced more exciting additions to its lineup. Promoters for the festival have revealed that The Prodigy (who will release their new album Invaders Must Die on March 2) and Pendulum, two of the most anticipated live acts for 2009, have been confirmed along with DJ titans Paul Van Dyk and Armin Van Buuren. Moby has also tapped UMF for his exclusive Winter Music Conference appearance.

The Ultra Music Festival is South Florida’s favorite music festival, internationally renowned for its memorable live performances and DJ sets from the world’s top electronic and alternative rock artists. It will take place during the 24th annual Winter Music Conference on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28 at the beautiful waterfront location of Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami (the same grounds it has occupied since 2006). While we’re feeling the drum ‘n’ bass vibes, here’s another one from Goldie. It’s called Inner City Life. Too bad drum ‘n’ bass never caught on fully in America with the hip hop crowd. They don’t like their beats too fast, I guess. Imagine if you had Mary J. Blige or someone with that caliber voice kicking it over a fierce drum ‘n’ bass track? We’re sure there are remixes out there. If you find a video of an American urban/soul artist singing over drum ‘n’ bass, let us know and we’ll post it.

Drum ‘n’ Bass diva and former Columbia Records recording artist, DJ Rap, is getting into the podcasting game with the launch of her new, Propa Podcast.

The first installment features the following tracks, mostly culled from her own Impropa Talent imprit. Rap acts as presenter on the set, introducing each track and shouting out to her fans and friends. Not that we’re against her presenting, but we’d like just a tad less talking over the music, mainly so we can enjoy more of the music. We’re thinking she’s doing that to prevent people from sampling off the podcast mp3, which makes complete sense. Or, she’s just pretty darn excited to launch the podcast. We know she’s been eager to do some new things as of late and we’re hoping that this is the first in a long line of new projects for this D’n'B superstar.
