On Saturday night, January 28th, London’s famed The End nightclub (18 West Central Street) hosts the Crosstown Rebels party featuring non other than superstar DJ, Scarlett Etienne, who is manning the decks alongside Damian Lazarus, 3 Channels, Kiki and Silver Surfer (live).
For the past three year’s Scarlett has risen from the New York club scene, where she could always be found getting her groove on at Twilo or spending hours studying Danny Tenaglia’s sets at Vinyl. She moved to San Francisco over a year or so ago to learn music production and make it her home base. Last summer in Ibiza, she went from being a fan of Danny to opening DJ on the terrace at Space, Ibiza for the We Love party.
Like most U.S. DJs, Scarlett’s success is taking place far from our shores, with residencies at Alter Ego in Verona, Italy (quarterly), Danzoo in Madrid, Spain (monthly) and regular guest spots at Godskitchen in Birmingham, UK, it’s no wonder why DJ Magazine in the U.K. named Scarlett Etienne the one to watch in 2006.
Scarlett also makes guest appearances in the San Francisco area, where she’s played spots like Ruby Skye. We’re patiently waiting for her to bring her brand of tech-house with a touch of electro to pump things up at Pacha or Crobar in New York.
Besides her DJ skills, Scarlett has appeared in advertisements for clothing companies in a variety of electronic music magainzes. She keeps a presence on MySpace.com, where you can check out her mix sets. Or, visit her web site at http://www.scarlettetienne.com.
She’s also on the roster of Guy Ornandel’s management company, Ornandel Management in the UK.
Props to Scarlett for turning me on to the track, “Mandarine Girl” by Booka Shade. Good call, sister…I’ve added it to the running playlist and one of my mix-sets on Netmix.com radio.
